DIGITAL FABRICATION-BASED PRINTMAKING
Summary
This project, proposed and led at DesignLab, aimed at combining different digital and fabrication tools to facilitate crafting processes. In the form of a workshop, students followed the process of making their own textile graphics by learning the basics of drawing textile graphics digitally, creating wood printing matrices with CNC, textile pattern making and construction, and ultimately printing on textiles. To this end, in two sprint sessions, students designed their own graphic tote bags.
The following images display parts of the design process in reverse, from the finalized tote back to the textile, CNC, and digital drawing sessions.
